North East Maritime Innovation hosted in collaboration with Newcastle University and the RNLI, a very successful and well attended RNLI Public Lecture “Challenging the Oceans” on June 13th this year at the Urban Sciences Building, Newcastle University.
Dee Caffari MBE talked about her single-handed, non-stop, round the world sailing voyage, “the wrong way”.
Phil Kite presented a talk on the world record breaking Atlantic rowing success of Team Tyne Innovation.
Holly Phillips (RNLI) and Simon Benson (Newcastle University) discussed the collaborative engineering project between the RNLI, Newcastle University and Lloyd’s Register that aims to enhance the design of search and rescue vessels.
There was additionally an RNLI and Engineering exhibition fin the Urban Sciences Foyer with an Atlantic 85 lifeboat on display outside.
